The results of January’s Pulse are in. The results in many areas - for example bullying and harassment, wellbeing, career progression and leadership - mirror the surveys carried out last year. You can see two infographics showing the main results here.
These results tell it like it is. It will take time for actions and cultural change to translate into measurable improvements. What is important is that you continue to speak up and speak out on how it feels to work at EEAST - and the Trust’s leadership keeps focused on driving and supporting improvements. We are doing this through the plans introduced to address concerns raised through the CQC, the national staff survey and our own. But as I say, this will take time. In this survey, your views on the value and impact of appraisals has improved - but there is much more to do. A new appraisal system starts this week to make sure you receive regular and meaningful opportunities to discuss your career and any development or training you may need. Appraisal information is being added to EVOLVE in the next few days.

Moving to COVID 19, the next planned date on the Government’s roadmap for lifting restrictions is 17 May. Some social distancing restrictions will be relaxed with the aim of ending all restrictions after 21 June. Although these dates may change based on transmission rates, we are developing plans to make sure we provide a safe working environment as and when homeworking staff return. Guidance will be available soon. It is important this guidance, and all existing COVID protocols, are followed to keep everyone safe. More details on the Government’s roadmap can be found here.
Our latest patient safety newsletter is out this week to help us learn and improve as individuals, teams and as an organisation. The bulletin shares recent actions taken to improve safety, and explains what to expect if you are invited to join a round table following an incident.

Investment in new technology will help frontline colleagues deliver the highest quality patient care, save time and help us work more effectively with other NHS and care organisations.
