Looking forward to another bank holiday weekend

Further to the spike in demand over the busy bank holiday at the beginning of May, we would like to reiterate our gratitude to staff for their hard work and to thank them in advance for being equally responsive and dedicated over the weekend bank holiday.

At the beginning of the month we saw an increase of more than 1,000 calls above average on the May bank holiday:

County breakdown of 8,008 calls:
Bedfordshire: 850
Cambridgeshire: 1,027
Essex: 2,548
Herts: 1,367
Norfolk: 1,222
Suffolk: 994

Coupled with a 30% spike in sickness on the day, this meant that those staff on duty were really working under pressure to provide the service and care required to our patients.

We are of course hoping that this coming bank holiday will be quieter; but we would like to encourage staff to do everything they can to attend their shifts over the weekend to ensure we continue to maintain the best possible level of service and care to our patients.
