Mental capacity assessments

Since the new SPOC pathways were rolled out on 4th July, we have noticed a recurring theme whereby patient facing staff are deeming a person not to have capacity but are not completing the Capacity Assessment documentation. 

If a capacity assessment isn’t completed by the crew on scene, capacity must be assumed. For this reason, we are unfortunately finding that we are unable to progress a number of referrals that should be sent to social care but cannot be in the absence of a completed capacity form.
