MIND resilience course available for all EEAST staff

Following the allocation of bank fines to support emergency services staff nationally, the mental health charity MIND has designed a personal resilience course which is now open for all EEAST staff to apply for.

MIND is running the course in two different ways to measure which approach works best:

  • half of those who sign up will have access to expert online information specially devised for emergency services staff and volunteers
  • half will attend sessions in person. As well as receiving expert information, you’ll be able to share experiences and solutions with each other.

The latter route will involve six sessions, one every week, and the Trust will support you attending wherever possible. You will be assigned at random to either approach.

The course is being rolled out in eight pilot areas in the country and Cambridgeshire has been chosen as one of these, with six courses available, three in Peterborough, two in Huntingdon, and one in Cambridge.

The course will give you a collection of tools and skills to help you cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life, as well as the unique pressures of working for an emergency service. It is available for all members of staff, whether you work on the frontline or in support services.

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “This course is an excellent opportunity and I am very pleased that one of the pilots is happening in our area. I would encourage as many staff as possible to attend to benefit from the specialist help being offered.”

MIND is looking for people who are well and not experiencing a mental health problem.
