More than 70 PTS staff join HCRT

Today (31^st October) the Trust’s ninth health care referral team (HCRT) course ended, bringing the total number of patient transport service (PTS) staff who have been upskilled to 78.

HCRT is now in operation, transporting lower acuity 'urgent' patients to hospital.

The latest group of HCRT staff celebrated the end of their course in Great Yarmouth with a Halloween-themed picture (below), after covering subjects such as basic and advanced life support, management of conditions, patient care records and infection prevention in their two-week course.

Course lead Trevor said: “Each and every member of the group has demonstrated exceptional knowledge, skill and ability throughout the two week training programme and are eager to get out there and do the job. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with these professional and fun members of staff. Since the last day of the course falls on Halloween, what better way to mark the last day of the course than by having some fun and accessorising with the spirit of the day.”

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh added: “I am delighted to see so many of our PTS staff learning new skills and becoming part of the 999 service we provide. It is an excellent opportunity to progress and will help support our existing staff and provide a better service to patients.”
