Neglect Awareness sessions for frontline staff

As part of the joint HSCP/NSPCC Neglect Campaign, the HSCP are offering free sessions on Basic Neglect Awareness.

When- 4th May 2021

Time-12:30pm. The session should last between 45 to 60 minutes

Facilitators- NSPCC Local Campaigns Manager and HSCP Partner Agency

Neglect is the most common reason for a child to be subject to a Child Protection Plan in England. It is estimated to affect up to one in ten children in the country.

The session content will include:

  • What is neglect?
  • Definition and types of neglect
  • What are the signs
  • National and local statistics
  • Why it is so important to tackle neglect
  • Neglect in adolescence
  • What can we do to support?

The sessions are suitable for people who come into frequent contact with families and children and where safeguarding is not part of their primary role.
