New airway management skills log for paramedics

By July 2015, every clinician in England and Wales will have to maintain an airway management skills log, as a result of a coroner’s preventing further deaths report.

The log will be your evidence of continuing practice and you will need to record all airway manoeuvres including the use of supraglottic airway devices and endotracheal tube intubation, as agreed by the National Ambulance Service Medical Directors group in November. This will form part of ongoing competency related to airway management.

The Trust will now develop how this log will look for our staff and more information will be published in the new year.
