New mum thanks Emma and Geoff after surprise delivery

A Hemel mum has said a huge thank you to the staff involved in the birth of her third child, who was born in an office car park last month.

Baby Teddy made his swift entrance in to the world, when mum, Danielle Barnett went into labour in a car park in Hunton Bridge near Kings Langley, after they couldn’t reach the hospital during rush hour traffic.

For Student Paramedic Emma Bainbridge and Emergency Medical Technician Geoff Rogers, it was the first 999 call out of the day – but the surprise birth was also a first for Emma.

“It’s certainly one I will never forget. Nothing quite prepares you in training for the real thing. Both parents and Grandma remained calm and were brilliant considering the situation.”

Both Emma and Geoff were reunited with Danielle, Christine and Baby Teddy on Wednesday 3^rd June.

Emma said, “It’s lovely to see both Danielle and Teddy again, looking so well. It was really nice to find out how baby Teddy is doing.”

A midwife arrived soon after the birth and mum and baby were taken to Watford General Hospital.

Danielle said: “Both Emma and Geoff were fantastic. I don’t know what we would have done without them. I wanted to say a big thank you to them face to face. It all happened so quickly and I wasn’t nervous or scared. It’s certainly going to be a story for Teddy when he’s all grown up!"
