New recruits apply after CFR takeover week

The CFR takeover week is expected to boost our volunteer numbers, with more than 60 direct downloads of the application form from the Trust website and 20 expressions of interest received, as well several successful open evenings held during the week.

The week saw lots of interaction on social media using the #CFRtakeover and six press releases issued, which were covered by the East Anglian Daily Times and the Braintree and Witham Times.

Steve Catley, Community Partnership Manager for Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, said: “We held open evenings in Bedford and Letchworth, which both went well and people were really interested in becoming a CFR. Some people had a previous experience in the medical profession, some had an interest in paramedics and some just wanted to give something back to their community.

“The CFR team explained to our potential recruits what happens when you call 999 and what a first responder does. The group in Bedford also got a tour round our emergency control room.”

Anthony Marsh’s thank you message to CFRs has been viewed more than 340 times.
