Thank you to everyone who worked over the Easter bank holiday weekend; it was a busy one for the Trust, as you may have seen earlier in the week, with over 10,000 calls being taken from Friday to Monday. I am always pleased to hear examples of good patient care and I know there were several incidents of patients’ return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) following cardiac arrests and serious road traffic collisions amongst other incidents, so well done and keep up the good work.
On Friday, the Board will be meeting to develop a new set of visions and values for the Trust. As I said in my governance review last year, these must be both fit for purpose and visible for the organisation to succeed. The vision needs to be brought alive with passion, drive, energy, focus and grip, all of which is meaningful, understood and believable by staff and stakeholders. I know the visions and values are important to you as I have spoken to many of you about this since I have been at EEAST. With the performance improvement action plan now in place, I think this is the right time to look at the visions and values and it gives us an opportunity to create a positive mind-set going forward.
I am really pleased with the new Need to Know site and the positive feedback you have given the communications team since it launched last Thursday. Improving internal communications is an ongoing important objective and this interactive site has been designed with you in mind, for you to access whilst at work or at home. Over the coming year we will be looking at how we can keep improving the site and how we communicate with you. The advert for the role of regional head of emergency operations centres closes today and we will be holding interviews for the post very soon. We are pushing forward with the restructure and you can be assured of my determination to achieve this, in what I know has been an often painful and frustrating process. As you know, this is one of my priorities in the performance improvement action plan, which is updated regularly on our website and I will be talking more about the progress we have been making on this in the next few weeks.
