Opportunities to further your clinical development

If you are interested in taking a course to further your clinical development, there are several options currently available:  

National Insitute of Health Research

The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) has a clinical academic programme for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, which combines research and leadership with continued clinical practice.

Masters

There are 12 higher education institutions in England that offer a Masters in clinical research (including the University of East Anglia), which are funded for NHS clinicians and includes the successful applicants' salary and course / tuition fees. PhD

The NIHR/Health Education England clinical doctoral research fellowship (C-DRF) scheme is aimed at post-degree nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and pharmacists who have at least a year of clinical practice, since graduating and who have had sufficient research experience or research training to prepare them to undertake a PhD, whilst still developing their clinical skills.

The C-DRF is an individual training award and offers funding to cover salary costs, tuition fees, and the costs of an appropriate research project and training and development programme. A round of studentships will be advertised later in the year.
