Our Improvement Journey - CQC Preparedness

4th April 2022 - The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have informed us they are formally starting our core inspection tomorrow (5th April 2022). This is likely to include visits to our three AOCs and focus on Norfolk and Waveney, Cambridgeshire and Mid-South Essex, although the inspection team will of course be able to visit anywhere in the Trust.

It is important to note that inspectors may attend the Trust from today (04/04/22) onwards. More information on what to do when the CQC arrive can be found here

Having a CQC core inspection is an opportunity to let them know about all the good work you have been doing and the improvements you have made. If you are approached, please be honest and open. It is important to remember that inspectors are finding out about how we care for patients. We have plenty to be proud of, we have work to do, we have challenges but importantly, nothing to hide.

We are keen to demonstrate that the areas that required further improvement are being worked on and that we capture all the positive achievements we have made since the last inspection in 2019. You can read more about our improvement since the last inspection here.

CQC Briefing - Juliet Beal, Interim Director of Nursing, Clinical Quality and Improvement, joined our CEO Tom Abell on the Thursday Executive briefing (14/10) and produced a short PowerPoint to guide staff through what they need to know for a CQC inspection. You can watch the video below. To help keep everyone updated on our improvement journey we have also linked a number of articles on the left hand side of this page under, 'Related Pages'.

CQC Booklet We have produced a booklet which will go into more detail to help you prepare for an inspection of our Trust's sites and services. You can view this here or download below.

Key Lines of EnquiryThe CQC ask the same five key questions to all care services. Are services safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led? The key questions are broken down in to further sets of questions called ‘Key Lines of Enquiry’. You can view details on each question here.
