Press release issued by the Trust to all local media and on the Trust's website.

Demand for help from the ambulance service over the bank holiday weekend rose by more than 1,000 calls above average. More than 8,000 calls were received by the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) over the long weekend, with falls the main reason for people calling.

A spokesperson for EEAST said: “As expected, we did see an increase in calls over the Bank Holiday.

"We received 177 calls about road traffic collisions, 1,256 calls relating to people who had fallen, 70 for cardiac arrests and 29 about allergic reactions - to name but a few.

"We'd like to thank all of our staff for their hard work over this busy Bank Holiday and remind people that if they do need health advice but it is not a life-threatening emergency, they can call 111 for further help."

For more details on the types of incidents that EEAST attend, visit the website or follow them on Twitter - @EEAST_Incidents.
