Progress so far on our sustainability plans

The latest documents on the development of sustainability and transformation plans (STPs) have been published and are available online.

These documents address the issues and challenges faced by the NHS system, both clinically and financially. As a Trust, we are working together with other organisations and taking joint responsibility for improving our population’s health and wellbeing, outcomes and experiences of care. This work is being led by clinicians and senior leaders of commissioners and providers.

Here at EEAST, our operational areas have been recently temporarily aligned to the STP footprints, in order to better focus our work on this.

In a bid to improve our retention and continue to reduce staff attrition, we are beginning discussions with some STPs about how many of the career opportunities that are now open to paramedics in particular, can be become part of the extended EEAST workforce model.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “We see this as an opportunity to create further career development and secondment opportunities. This will help expand the range of reasons why our staff want to stay rather than feeling the need to leave to pursue other options. This is a win: win situation for everyone involved. The service wanting a paramedic can get one by coming to us, the paramedic gets an option to apply for an opportunity without having to leave and the Trust gets to grow it workforce and become a more attractive career proposition.”

The updated STP pages are available on East24.
