Staff raise awareness on assaults

RRV with blue lights

As you may have heard earlier this week, there has been a national focus on NHS staff assaults rising, with radio stations such as BBC 5 Live leading the way.

Some of our local BBC radio stations were keen to talk to our staff about this hot topic; Dave Tamarro and Mark Giddens spoke on BBC Three Counties whilst Steve Segasby was interviewed on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. All were able to talk about personal experiences in some degree, as well as highlighting our zero tolerance policy when the public assault our staff and volunteers both verbally and physically.

Chief Executive Robert Morton thanked them for stepping forward: "It can be a difficult subject to talk about as many of our colleagues and friends have been affected by assaults either directly or indirectly. But it is one that must be discussed; we cannot accept it when a staff member or volunteer is assaulted physically or verbally. My thanks to those who took part to raise awareness around this serious matter."
