Staff seize learning opportunities

Staff in training school

Every year the Trust provides mandatory training and professional updates to staff, but there is a wealth of other learning opportunities that the Trust offers to staff to help them build their portfolios, skills and continuing professional development (CPD). In 2013/14, more than 1,100 learning activities were taken up voluntarily by staff ranging from mental health awareness, wound assessment through to end of life care. During this year the Trust are focussing around student paramedic training, upskilling our ECAs to EMTs and EMTs to paramedics and developing more mentors on the frontline.

Marcus Bailey, Consultant Paramedic, said: “We want to offer our staff the best possible opportunities to develop their skills and careers. We will ensure that all staff get the required training they need to do the job, but for those wanting to expand their knowledge and skills further we are currently looking for interested clinical staff to develop their skills in mentorship to help, guide and support our new student paramedics. This will also prepare us for the new university students through our University partners.”

The Trust is offering to fully fund a level 5/6 accredited mentorship qualification, carrying a minimum of 15 credits through a university. In addition to this being a formally accredited programme, this type of learning activity will provide good CPD evidence for the Health and Care Professions Council.

If you’d like to apply or if you have expressed an interest already and are yet to complete your application form, please download and complete the form (link to be inserted) as soon as possible.
