Staff win at Norfolk and Waveney awards

The dedication of ambulance staff and volunteers was celebrated last week at the Stars of Norfolk and Waveney awards.

The Trust was well represented at the Eastern Daily Press organised awards on Thursday (3^rd December) with Norfolk’s community first responders winning team of the year and Ryan Warwick being named search and rescue person of the year.

Chris Neil and Chris Sharman were finalists in the hospital/ambulance person of the year award and former CFR Pete Davis, of North Pickenham, was a finalist in the volunteer of the year category.

Carl Smith was also in the running for search and rescue person of the year.

Four-year-olds Megan Stratton and Sasha Nutley, who called 999 when their mums needed emergency medical help, also received special recognition awards.

Award winner Ryan said: “It was both supportive and humbling to realise how we in the EEAST are held in such high regard by both the public and other emergency services.”

Steve Hammond, Community Partnership Training Officer, added: “Tribute was paid to all of the many Norfolk CFRs who willingly give up their time to help members of their community in times of medical emergency.

“All in all CFRs were well represented at the awards and it was a real honour to have collected the award on behalf of all Norfolk responders.”
