Student paramedic pathway update

Yellow kit bag

We have been working with Health Education East of England to commission the second year of the student paramedic pathway.

This has now been completed and contracts have been awarded to Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and the University of East Anglia (UEA).

The universities are in the process of completing and submitting the programme design to the Health and Care Professions Council for approval. This is expected to take place in April and the first intakes to begin in July.

UEA will teach students from Norfolk and Suffolk, with ARU teaching students from other areas. Delivery for UEA will be in Norwich and ARU will be Chelmsford and another site yet to be finalised, but we are aiming to reduce travel time where possible.

We have also been working with ARU and UEA to ensure a smooth transition from year 1 to year 2. This involves some refinement to the assessment elementsĀ in weeks 9, 10 and 11 within the Trust and ensuring mapping of the contents is accurate. This enables us to match the needs of the higher education programme you will be entering.

I will be writing to each student paramedic explaining the course and enrolment, including study time and attendance requirements.

I appreciate your patience whilst we finalise these details and I understand how important this is to you. We are at a critical time of the development to make sure it meets the needs of you, as students, along with the other external requirements.
