Talking all things paramedic in Ipswich

Staff and volunteers have been thanked for their involvement in a successful recruitment event in Suffolk at the weekend.

A stand was set up in Cornhill, Ipswich, on Sunday (25th October) to give people an insight into what it takes to become a student paramedic.

Eight ambulance staff were joined by seven community first responders (CFRs) to share their life-saving skills by doing CPR demonstrations.

An ambulance and two rapid response vehicles were on site for members of the public to look around and ask questions, and staff were on hand to answer questions about the Trust’s student paramedic programme.

Around 70 people attended throughout the day with 25 expressing an interest in applying.

Duty Locality Officer James Fisher, who organised the event, said: “A lot of children wanted to go inside the ambulance and it gave us an opportunity to hand out leaflets to their parents and grandparents.

“It was great to have four student paramedics there to answer questions; the CFRs gave fantastic CPR demonstrations and we gave demonstrations on how we work with CFRs. The day was a great success.”

James will be running another recruitment day at Cornhill from 10am on Sunday, 29th November.
