I have held very productive meetings to progress our work on pay bandings for operational paramedics and EMTs. This is a really important issue as supporting our staff properly is absolutely critical to me; it goes hand in hand with giving our ECAs an opportunity to progress to EMTs and introducing HCRT as a new career pathway for our PTS staff. I want there to be incentive and progression for everyone in this organisation.
We are working towards the introduction of a senior paramedic and senior EMT role, which will be based on the additional skills those staff will be trained in – which may be mentoring, advanced clinical skills and so on.
