Trolley dash raises funds for CFR group in Norfolk

A Supermarket Sweep-style event has raised hundreds of pounds for a life-saving group in Norfolk.

The Swaffham and District Lions Club held a trolley dash at the town’s Tesco store last week (12th October) to support community first responders.

The store sold tickets and the lucky winner was Averil Whitwell from Swaffham, who was given permission to go wild in the aisles on Monday night.

A nervous Averil was given 90 seconds, and with the help of the Lions and Tesco staff, she managed to fill her trolley to the brim.

Andrew Barlow, our Community Partnership Manager for Norfolk, said: “She was extremely excited at the end and gave the Lions big hugs.

“The £450 proceeds from the trolley dash will go to the Swaffham and area community first responders who attended on the night to give their support and to promote the great work they do.”

The Lions decided to support the volunteers following the sudden death of former president Rod Goodwin, 69.
