Trust uniform found at charity shop

Some Trust branded uniform was left at a charity shop last week – breaking not only Trust policy but the law as well.

Selling or donating ambulance uniform is not allowed; any item of uniform or equipment, even if it relates to our former three trusts (East Anglian, Beds and Herts and Essex Ambulance Services), remains the property of EEAST. This means you’re not allowed to donate, loan or sell any items to another person or organisation – and if you do you’re committing theft, and in some cases fraud.

If you replace your uniform or leave the Trust (whether it’s used or new), you need to return it to a DLO or your line manager so they can dispose of it appropriately.

We take this matter really seriously because there is a real threat that, if the items fall into the wrong hands, they could be used to impersonate a member of staff. This puts our staff and the general public at risk.

In this light, we will consider taking criminal and/or disciplinary action against anyone found to be selling or donating uniform or equipment.

If you’ve seen any Trust issued items for sale online or elsewhere, it’s important that you report them.
