Update from Anthony Marsh - 14th May 2015

This week I want to start by sharing something that serves as a very real reminder of how important the service we provide is. We received a very poignant thank you card from a family whose young daughter went into cardiac arrest earlier this year and despite the best efforts of our staff, could not be saved. The card from her grandparents says:

“We are heartbroken that we lost her but are truly happy to know that there are dedicated people, like you who did their best to assist and try. Her mummy and daddy and sisters also send their heartfelt thanks.”

The card also mentions the “expertise, diligence and professionalism” of our staff and I would like to thank you again for everything you did for the family. These excellent standards of care have really made a difference and you should be extremely proud of what you did on that day and the comfort you have obviously given them.

It is important to highlight the good work you all do as much as possible and you can see how the communications team are doing this by following the Trust’s Twitter account today as they ride out with a crew from Sudbury. This is a really good way of delivering a slice of public education to nearly 12,000 followers about what you do on a normal shift; the patients you treat and the care you give, so take a look when you can.

Finally I would like to reiterate my thanks for everything you do in your commitment to good quality patient care. As we turnaround the organisation, our focus on clinical quality and excellence must be pursued above anything else. As always, you have my complete and unwavering support.
