Update from Anthony Marsh - 23rd April 2015

I am pleased to tell you our clinical quality priorities have been set for 2015/16 and we have decided to keep the same ones as last year to embed them even further in the organisation and build on the good work we have started.

These priorities will form our Quality Account, a legal requirement for every NHS organisation which is published on the NHS Choices website every year – it is also an opportunity to show the public and our commissioners that we are focused on quality improvement and committed to providing high quality care. The priorities we will be carrying forward are:

1. timely response
2. heart attack care
3. stroke care
4. friends and family test
5. frequent callers
6. cardiac arrest care
7. sepsis care.

Some of these (such as cardiac arrest and stroke care) are aligned with the national ambulance clinical quality indicators; addressing frequent callers is also on the national agenda, as is sepsis care – but all of these priorities have been chosen to be equally important at EEAST. We will be doing what we can to help you give even better care in these areas but please also consider how you can contribute to these priorities and speak to the clinical team if you have any relevant ideas.

I would like to finish by congratulating the last group of module seven students who are finishing their course in Chelmsford tomorrow and to all of you who have been on this pathway. I am delighted to see your progression and I wish you all the very best for a long and successful career as paramedics.
