Update from Anthony Marsh - 16th October 2014

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh

Reflecting on this week’s industrial action, I would like to thank you for finding a balance between standing up for your beliefs and maintaining a safe service to our patients. Taking industrial action is not a decision that is reached lightly and I appreciate that many of you worked under exemptions, so our most seriously ill patients received an emergency response. As always, we worked very closely with our staff side colleagues before, during and after the action, and we will continue to do so to ensure you are fully supported.

Your dedication to high quality care has also been exemplified in our most recent patient survey results from July; 99% of respondents said they were treated with care and dignity, 97% said their privacy was respected and 98% said they were very satisfied with the care they received. These are excellent and I am very proud of you. As always, we have published these results on our website and the communications team released this information externally, so that we can publicly recognise your hard work and my appreciation for all you do.

Please be assured that we are working closely with Public Health England locally and nationally in relation to preparations for any ebola case. Your safety and protection will continue to be my number one priority.
