Virtual pre-hospital obstetric training session

We are hosting a Teams training session for frontline clinicians, of all grades, to discuss the full range of maternity jobs and any concerns you may have.

The event will be held between 10am-1pm on the 6th May 2021. 

This will be led by Kerrie Wykes, Registered Midwife/Student Paramedic and Daimon Wheddon, Clinical Lead for Maternity.

 We will be discussing a variety of topics such as:

  • Changing maternal physiology and the effects on patient assessment.
  • Pregnancy concerns such as, miscarriage, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and antepartum haemorrhage.
  • Assessment and management of a normal labour and birth.
  • Obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, cord prolapse, breech birth and postpartum haemorrhage
  • A brief overview of neonatal physiology and why it matters in neonatal resuscitation.
