Warning after 'selfie' tweeted

Yorkshire selfie incident 2 OPT

All three emergency services are investigating the publication of a ‘selfie’ showing ambulance and fire staff at the scene of a crash in Yorkshire.  Media outlets have reported that a police officer tweeted the snap following the rush hour crash, which caused severe tailbacks for commuters.

Communications Director, Chris Hartley, said: “Social media is a great tool for all three emergency services and is used every day to engage with and inform members of the public.  However, we all need to be careful that we use it correctly.  As this recent event shows, there is a fine line between what social media should and shouldn’t be used for. I would urge all staff to make yourself familiar with the social media policy and if you have any queries or questions simply ask the communications team at communications@eastamb.nhs.uk”.
