What has the biggest impact on your health and wellbeing? The next step of our cultural audit

Blurred ambulance

We have now collated all of your responses to the cultural audit survey that went out in the summer.  In total, we had 1,771 responses (equivalent to more than 40% of you!), so thank you for taking the time to complete it.

What’s the next stage?

Zeal Solutions, the company conducting the audit, have been working with a number of ambulance trusts, as well as with UNISON on a national level. They have compiled all your responses and completed the first stage of the analysis.  It’s not simply looking at answers to individual questions, but looking more widely at what parts of the workplace have the biggest impact on your health and wellbeing. That could include everything from specific work and job features (like the amount of work you have to do or physical violence at work), to support structures and leadership.

So what is it that has the biggest positive and biggest negative impact on your health and wellbeing here at EEAST, and why? We’re asking for this final stage of feedback from you so that we can validate the results, and check that we’re focusing on things that will make the biggest difference.  These will likely be a combination of championing areas of good practise and positive experience, and tackling areas that have a significant negative impact on people. You can give this final level of feedback in a number of ways:

  •  Calling Zeal directly on 01159 932 324, between 9am and 5pm; please leave a message if the support line is busy and someone will call you back
  • Email Zeal support at support@zealsolutions.co.uk
  • Arranging for Zeal to come into the work place to speak to your team in person
  • By reading the basic summary of findings and completing the feedback sheet that will be made available on East24 by Monday
  • Speaking to Zeal when they are out and about across the Trust at stations, EOCs and offices - dates and details of these to be published soon.

We aim to have gathered this feedback by the end of the month. The cultural audit steering group, which is made up of staff from across the organisation, will then work with Zeal to go through the results and develop an action plan to help move us positively forward. The findings of the audit, along with the action plan, will be presented to the Trust Board on 25th January – and if you want to be there you’re welcome to attend.

Please remember, this is not your usual or standard survey. The approach that is taken by Zeal is really helping us to get beneath the skin of the organisation, so we can better look after our staff and volunteers, and ultimately make EEAST a better place to work.
