Your IT equipment and printing

Printer OPT

In line with the Trust’s priority to direct more resources into frontline services, the IT team will be changing the way some things currently work.

Equipment

There will now be a standard list of essential IT equipment issued to staff in the Trust, which will be developed with directors and approved to meet the needs of the job role. This equipment needs to be returned to the IT team when members of staff leave and the team need to be notified if they change job role.

IT equipment is owned by the Trust and any unused equipment needs to be returned as soon as possible to be re-issued and re-used. Equipment becomes out of date very quickly if left unused and the Trust would prefer to reuse than buy new equipment.

To arrange collection of equipment, including any items that are no longer in working order, please log a call with the IT service desk (08456 012509).

Toners and printing

Another area of high spend for the Trust is toner cartridges for printers – the cost of printers has been reduced considerably by manufacturers in recent years, but the cost of toners is now at an unsustainable level.

Please use the nearest networked photocopier to print essential documents only (ideally in black and white and double-sided; secure printing is available).

If you need help to connect to a networked photocopier, or need some guidance or instructions, please log a call with the IT service desk, who will be happy to help you with this.

Toners should no longer be purchased for printers and when they run out, please call the IT service desk to arrange for the printer to be taken away; likewise if a printer breaks down.

Thank you for your help – every pound we can save on equipment is a pound we can put into frontline staffing and service.

End of paper tax discs for vehicles

With effect from 1st October, the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will cease producing tax discs for all vehicles in the UK (except those based in Northern Ireland).

Any new vehicle on the road from this date will not have a tax disc fitted, and any vehicle with a tax disc that expires after the 1st October will not have a replacement supplied at the date of expiry, nor will any damaged or lost discs be replaced.

You can remove a tax disc in a Trust vehicle and dispose of it after 1st October too.

The DVLA will still issue reminders to the Trust for vehicles which are under its control, and to the lease companies for Trust lease cars. The fleet department will continue to apply for vehicle taxation in the same manner, and the team will record that the tax has been issued on the vehicle’s electronic file, with a paper record also being held for the life of the vehicle with the Trust.
