Declining the vaccine

The Trust has taken part in one of the biggest vaccination programmes the country has ever seen, and phase one of this programme has come to an end, with all staff and volunteers offered their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Beginning on 15th March, phase two will begin with those staff and volunteers being offered their second dose of vaccine.
The vaccine is a course of two doses to give you the maximum protection against COVID 19, therefore it is really important that you get the second vaccine within the allocated timeframe. The earliest that you can have your vaccine in the Trust clinics is nine weeks after your first vaccine.

Those staff who need to arrange their second dose, are asked  to book the same location as they had their first.
This enables EEAST to control the doseage and clinic numbers.
In extenuating circumstances this can be considered on an individual basis.
Please see the in-house vaccination section below for more information.

Those who have not had their first dose and who wish to book one are now advised to book their vaccination at an external site through a Hospital Hub.

Vaccination at external sites (Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine)

Health and care staff have been made one of the highest priority groups to receive the vaccine.

We have partnered with NHSE and neighbouring acute NHS Trusts so that EEAST staff can receive their first vaccination.

If your first vaccine was given at one of our partner Trusts, you will need to return there for the second as the vaccines cannot be mixed.

The EEAST process follows the clinical update SOP provided below, but will consist of three elements:

Please complete the Vaccine Site Selection Form to indicate which site you wish to attend (choosing from the list below), so we can coordinate numbers of staff wishing to be vaccinated.

NOTE: This is not the booking form. You will still need to book directly with the site using the information below.
The site will, however, be expecting you based on the data we provide from the site selection form.

It is important to know your NHS number as this will help with ensuring your vaccination record is uploaded to your GP records.

In-house vaccination (AstraZenica vaccine)

Our in-house vaccination programme for EEAST staff using the AstraZenica vaccine is now entering its second phase and is available to book through Evolve to those who have already had their first dose.

Booking in for the in-house vaccination is once again through Evolve, so please makes sure you have your login details to hand

1.       Log in to Evolve (ensure you have your NHS number)

2.       Select ‘Course Directory’

3.       Then select ‘Covid Vaccination Programme

4.       Select the area where you want to receive the vaccine.

It is important to know your NHS number as this will help ensure your vaccination record is uploaded to your GP records either via the acute site or via CallEEAST, and will also speed up the booking and vaccination record data entry.
Your NHS number can be found via the NHS App, through your GP surgery, on repeat prescriptions and hospital letters.

All staff will still be asked to complete the online vaccination form once they have had their first vaccination, regardless of which one and where this is done.

A SOP for all aspects of the vaccination program can be downloaded as a separate PDF below.

Declining vaccination

We would encourage you to have the vaccine, but in the event you wish to decline, can you please complete this online form. You will need your staff number and NHS number.

Reasons for declining can be recorded as Contraindicated or Informed Choice to Decline.
This data will be logged against the NHSE database and then deleted at the end of the vaccination program.
