EEAST stands down from latest Business Continuity Incident

EEAST has today stood down from the Business Continuity Incident that was declared on the 28th December. Thank you for your hard work during this period of intense pressure.   

Handover delays at hospitals remain a significant challenge and we are reminding the public of the huge pressures that the NHS is currently facing.   

CEO Tom Abell said:  

“I would like to thank all our people who have worked so hard over Christmas and New Year period which has been very challenging.  

“Thanks to your efforts and dedication, we have today been able to stand down from the Business Continuity Incident, but we are reminding the public of the extreme pressures the NHS currently faces and this is a position we will keep under close review.

“In particular, the impact prolonged handover delays are having across our region, and I am equally as frustrated and we are working across our region to find solutions to tackle these.  This includes securing additional space within Acutes and supporting social care to improve flow through increased discharges.

“Please continue to support each other, and please make use of the wellbeing support we have availableIt’s important that everyone within EEAST knows how and where to find this additional support should they need it.
