Filming of staff - What to do

Concept ambulance NTK

A video that was taken in an A&E department earlier this week has received widespread coverage on social media and traditional media outlets.

Please be aware there is risk of further cases of members of the public filming NHS staff while you go about your duties. When approached with this situation, you should remain calm and ask for the filming to be stopped to protect patient confidentiality.

If the person continues filming, staff should continue with their duties of caring for the patient and avoid any confrontation.

Any instances of staff being filmed by the public while carrying out EEAST business should be reported to your line manager/EEAST lead and via Datix as soon as possible. The communications team should also be informed.

If you have any concerns about an incident, please speak to your line manager and remember the wellbeing support that is available to you, the details of which can be found on Need to Know.
