Battery checks for AED IPads

Blurred ambulance

As we are coming into the winter months, different types of batteries in some of our devices can perform differently by being stored in cold temperatures.

We have recently seen a number of instances of battery failure, especially with the AED iPad SP1, which are currently being investigated.

If you are using the AED iPad SP1, we advise you to check the battery display and that it is charged at the start of your shift.

If you spot any problems with battery failure, please Datix, faulty tag the item, place in quarantine on station and alert Clinical Engineering at Barton Mills. For further information on handling faulty medical devices click here to see the medical devices SOP.
