Our ‘behind the scenes’ feature, where we highlight a person or team from within the Trust, continues. This week is Anna Price who is part of the safeguarding team. Anna has worked with the ambulance service for 13 years.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I graduated from the University of Herts as a registered Nurse in 1999. I specialised in cardiology prior to coming to Beds & Herts to teach pre-hospital thrombolysis. In 2006 when the Trust merged, I moved into clinical governance this included looking after our PAS/VAS contract. I took the role in safeguarding in September, and I’m also a CQC clinical specialist advisor. I was also the first nurse in the UK to administer pre-hospital thrombolysis.

And what about your job role?

My role covers everything from training, report and policy writing, and CQC safeguarding portfolios to meetings and engaging with external agencies. On top of that, I am still really enthusiastic and proud to wear my greens.  I feel we can really make a difference.

Which of the Trust values (respect, care, teamwork, quality, honesty) is most important to you, and why?

Whilst they are all important I think personally ‘care’ would be what I would pick. We all play a role in making sure our patients are cared for and we need to extend this to all people we come into contact with. Looking out for each is just as important.

What is your favourite thing about your career?

Knowing that we can make a difference - I like to get out and treat patients.

Tell us something people might not know about you?

I like to read tarot cards.
