This week, the ‘behind the scenes’ spotlight shines on Lisa Benstead, Business Support Manager for non-emergency services. Lisa has been working for the patient transport service (PTS) for 13 years.

Hi Lisa, first off tell us a bit about yourself

I started with the Trust 13 years ago as the customer service manager of Peterborough and Stamford, in Cambridgeshire.  I joined the Trust from a transport logistics company in the private sector, so it was a steep learning curve for me, but one I relished.

One of the highlights of my career was when I organised the transport to move all patients from the Peterborough District Hospital and the Edith Cavell Hospital to the new Peterborough City Hospital.  The Peterborough PTS team moved around 800 patients in just over a week, including those who needed frontline resources - and it went without a glitch!

What do you do as part of your job role?

As a business support manager, I will do anything that supports and helps my team.  Some of my duties include representing PTS at meetings such as safeguarding, business continuity, infection prevention and control, and quality standards. I also complete and present investigations, assist with interviewing, help mobilise new contracts, keep HealthAssure and the risk register updated, pull together inductions for new managers, organise PTS manager meetings and basically keep the PTS team organised!

My job role is so varied and it really is different every day; I deal with anybody and everybody and I am never bored! I enjoying interacting with colleagues and travelling around to different areas.

What motivates you when it comes to working for the Trust?

I have always been proud to work for the Trust. I thoroughly enjoy my job and look forward to coming to work.  The non-emergency management team work closely together and we always try to help one another out if we can.

Which of the Trust values (respect, care, teamwork, quality, honesty) is most important to you, and why?

Teamwork is really important to me.  As mentioned before we have a small management team in non-emergency services, therefore we work closely together to meet deadlines, targets and quality standards, whilst delivering a safe and timely service for patients.

Tell us something people might not know about you?

I’ve got two donkeys, called William and Margo, and I often take them for walks around the village!

What did you want to be when you were young?

A dancer on Top of the Pops, or the fifth member of ABBA.
