Carrying controlled drugs in belts and pouches

The security of our controlled drugs is paramount - in the wrong hands, the medicines and drugs we use could do more harm than good.

In light of this the medicines management group has made a change to the policy around carrying controlled drugs (CDs), that says clinicians are no longer allowed to carry CDs or CD pouches on their belts on in a pocket.

Instead, CDs should please be stored in a locked drug safe at a station or on a Trust vehicle. Please remember that the locked container mustn’t be left in an unattended vehicle overnight.
