Could you be a Speak Up Ambassador?

Freedom to Speak Up

Freedom to Speak Up needs you!

  • Are you passionate about creating a culture of openness and honesty at EEAST?
  • Do you believe you have the skills and experience to support staff who want to raise a concern?
  • Do you demonstrate the Trust values and behaviours?
  • Do you have excellent communication skills and can show empathy and compassion for others?

If you answered yes to these questions then we would love you to consider applying for a role as one of our new Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Ambassadors. The role is open to everyone, from all service areas and bandings, regardless of whether you are an employee, volunteer or student.

What will I have to do?

As an Ambassador you will:

  • promote speaking up within your working area
  • be a trusted colleague who will listen and signpost staff to relevant support services
  • escalate more serious, complex concerns on patient/staff safety to the FTSU team
  • undertake relevant training and dedicate the equivalent of one full day a month to supporting your colleagues - abstraction arrangements will be supported.

Please note, this is a voluntary role, to be undertaken alongside your existing role. To avoid duplication and increase the reach of speaking up, we will not be accepting applications from staff who currently hold voluntary positions within the Trust.
