COVID-19 – Return to Mandatory Safety Precautions - 13th July 2022

COVID-19

In light of the increase of COVID-19 in the community the Trust will now reintroduce mandatory safety precautions – including mask wearing on Trust premises and in vehicle cabs.

As cases fell in May the Trust removed some mandated COVID-19 safety measures in line with national guidance – including mandatory mask wearing and distancing on Trust sites and vehicle cabs.

However, cases are now on the increase within the Trust and the risk of workplace transmission has also increased. At the beginning of June there were 22 positive COVID-19 cases recorded across the Trust – that number has increased to 181 as of today.

COVID-19 sickness has increased to over 3% of the workforce – and therefore the decision has been taken to bring in precautions to help protect individuals and the wider workforce. Other healthcare organisations are also implementing changes to adapt to the emerging risk and to ensure a safe service.

Actions to take from today

  • Reintroduce mandatory mask wearing on all Trust premises
  • Reintroduce mandatory mask wearing in vehicle cabs
  • Observe physical distancing where possible
  • Ensure physical barriers/screens are between workstations where possible
  • Conduct meetings remotely where possible
  • LFT test twice weekly and self-monitor for symptoms
  • Notify COVID team if you are a possible COVID contact, test positive or have symptoms
  • Do not attend work if COVID positive or otherwise too unwell
  • Let fresh air into spaces as frequently as possible
  • Check temperatures when entering Trust sites
  • Practice hand hygiene frequently
  • Decontaminate workstations more frequently
  • Avoid communal food and drinks
  • Work remotely where possible and/or consider using a hybrid working pattern
