Dementia Awareness CPD Courses: Spaces Available

There is a Dementia Awareness course provided by The Alzheimer’s Society available for booking onto via Evolve. This session will be held virtually via Zoom.

On this course you will cover:

• The signs and symptoms of dementia
• How dementia affects behaviour, the senses and communication
• How to build positive relationships with people affected by dementia using increased knowledge, empathy and practical skills.

*The Dementia awareness training for staff working in emergency service will cover how to work with patients in an emergency environment as well as the above areas.

Learning outcomes:

• Explore the functions of the brain
• Identify how damage to the brain caused by dementia can impact on everyday life
• Examine attitudes towards dementia
• Identify the characteristics of the 4 main types of dementia
• Experience some of the difficulties people with dementia may face with regards to communication

Dementia Awareness for Emergency Services

Dementia awareness training for staff working in emergency services will provide an understanding of dementia and the problems that may be experienced by people with dementia in emergency situations and to provide insight to support staff in their work.
