Do you know what your business continuity plan is in case of an emergency?

Business Continuity Awareness Week 2022

Are you aware of what your department BC plans say? Do you know what to do in the event of a loss of water supply? Do you know who to call if you arrive at work and find there is no power?

A lot of business continuity seems quite mundane and uninteresting but if you found there were no vehicles to use when you arrive on shift or that the AOCs cannot receive 999 calls, how can we still meet the needs of our patients and continue to provide outstanding care?

The Trust has 5 critical functions, known as the EEAST :-

  • Call Handling
  • Dispatch
  • Transport
  • Clinical Triage
  • Treatment

It is vitally important that we all protect these functions and if you find that there is an issue which could impact on any of these functions it is essential you report it to your Manger immediately. We all can play a part in ensuring we are always able to deliver our services to our communities and protect our own resilience.

Today we are launching the EEAST Business Continuity Handbook which is designed to give all members of staff and volunteers the tools needed to develop business continuity plans. As mentioned in my previous article, all areas have Business Continuity Leads so it is worth knowing who they are.

If you would like more information on Business Continuity within EEAST please contact the BC and EPRR Compliance Manager – Darya Wotherspoon at EEAST.BC@eastamb.nhs.uk.
