Ebola: action cards for staff

As mentioned in the latest ebola advice article last week, action cards have been produced for all staff who may be involved in dealing with a patient with suspected viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF).

These cards are for:

  • crews who arrive at scene with a patient who is low risk
  • crews who arrive at scene with a patient who is high risk
  • very high risk / confirmed transfers
  • vehicle cleaning following suspected or confirmed case
  • escorting officer with a patient who is low risk
  • escorting officer with a patient who is high risk.

The full range of cards is being delivered to stations and will be put on every frontline vehicle, along with the appropriate personal protective equipment. The cards can also be downloaded and printed from the Need to Know site.

NARU Advice: The National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU) has issued advice to clinicians around CPR, ventilation, fluids and anti-emetics for ebola patients, which is available to download.
