EEAST signs declaration on mental health in Cambs

Cambs mental health concordat declaration

Senior leaders from across Cambridgeshire signed a declaration this week setting out how to support patients experiencing a mental health crisis.

Trust staff  joined representatives from Cambridgeshire Constabulary, local councils, Addenbrooke’s and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals, charity MIND and the British Transport Police at the county’s second mental health roundtable on Monday (3rd November).

Ross, who attended, said: “I am delighted to have been able to be involved with what really is the start of a new, joined up approach to supporting patients with mental health conditions in Cambridgeshire.

“What strikes me the most about the concordat and the associated work streams is how committed each safety, and health organisation is to ensuring patients in Cambridgeshire receive the best care.

“I look forward to working closely with our partners in delivering excellence.”

Improved information sharing and partnership working, prevention and early intervention were just some of the commitments made, as well as the promise to work to together to ensure that no matter what agency a person approaches they are 'kept safe and helped to find the support they need'.

The next step is to formulate a shared plan of action to improve the care and support of people in mental health crisis in the county. This declaration is the eighth to be signed in the country and joins Norfolk and Suffolk in our patch.
