EEAST's new Fire Manager

Fire manager Stephen Manuel

Dear colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, as the Trust’s new Fire Safety Manager. My predecessor, Roy Gray, has taken great strides in improving fire compliance and awareness in this organisation, and I intend to continue building on this.

I have over 30 years of experience in the fire industry to bring to this role, having previously worked as both a front line firefighter and a county enforcement officer. Upon retirement from front line duties, I worked for 3 years at Bedfordshire Hospital Trust as their Fire Safety Manager, before joining the team here at EEAST.

Having served on both sides, I understand fully what is required to satisfy the authorities and make your workplace as safe as possible. To achieve this, I would welcome your collaboration and look forward to hearing your views on what we can improve or change. Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility, and I hope that we can work together to ensure EEAST is a safe place for us all to work.

I have been happily married for 33 years and have 3 grown up children, who have now left home but are still my greatest source of amusement, and work!  In my free time, I enjoy photography and have a regular spot with MK Dons football club capturing their matches.

Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming. I look forward to working with all of you.

Kind regards,

Stephen Manuel MIFSM GIFireE

Fire Safety Manager
