February is LGBT+ History month

LGBT history month 2022

LGBT History Month takes place in February every year and offers the chance to connect and reflect on the past and present of the LGBT community.

It’s an opportunity to celebrate LGBT culture and progress towards equality over time, and to explore what the lessons of history can teach us for the future.

The theme for this year is Politics in Art. 2022 sees the 50th anniversary of the very first Pride March in the UK in 1972. A popular slogan of the early Gay Rights Movement (the idea of the ‘LGBT’ community was some way off) of the time was “the personal is political”, and art is probably the most individual of pastimes. To find out more about this year’s theme visit the LGBT+ website.

Here are EEAST we are committed to supporting employees who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transsexual plus (LGBT+). The Trust has a LGBT+ Network who meet regularly to focus on how the Trust can improve its focus and support LGBT+.
