Ops update: Transporting patients with oxygen on Stryker stretcher

Ops Update Icon

There has been a health and safety issue identified with carrying oxygen on Stryker stretchers during transportation of patients.

The top oxygen straps on the pictures below are not safe to use and manufacturers guidance states: “Do not use the oxygen bottle holder to hold an oxygen bottle when the transport vehicle is in motion. Always place the oxygen bottle holder in an appropriate storage location when the transport vehicle is in motion.”

Oxygen can only be stored here when transferring patient into the ambulance or from the ambulance to the hospital.
