HEMS Benefit Study

Herts air ambo and EEAST

We have an exciting opportunity here at EEAST to contribute to a research study in the East of England, looking to better understand the value added by HEMS teams to the scene of an incident.

The study aims to develop understanding of what HEMS teams bring, so we can ultimately try to improve patient care and resource utilisation in the future. We need your help to provide feedback after any job you have attended with a HEMS team from the region (EAAA, EHAAT, Magpas) between 1st December 2021 and 31st January 2022.

Who are the research team?

The team is comprised of clinicians and researchers based at East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT), Magpas Air Ambulance and Anglia Ruskin University: Toby Edmunds, Kate Lachowycz, Rob Major, Sarah McLachlan and Andy Smith. If you have any queries about the study, please contact Toby Edmunds at toby.edmunds@eaaa.org.uk

 How to participate:

This is completely anonymised, and we are looking for all types of feedback via the survey links below.

Following attendance at a job with EAAA, EHAAT or Magpas, please click on this link to take you to the survey page:

Before you move to the survey questions, you will be asked to complete a short section to consent to participate in the survey which you will need to tick the box beside each to agree. Please note that as a result of the anonymous nature of the study design, any data you provide during the study cannot subsequently be withdrawn.

What will happen with the data collected:

The data collected will be analysed and assessed in the context of job type, tasking, and interventions to work out how we can improve the service provided and refine deployment SOP’s. All analysis will be anonymised, with clinician names removed.

This will then be used to inform a bigger piece of work on tasking within the region and across the charities with the overall aim of improving the efficiency and use of HEMS assets in the region.
