High Sheriff Award for EEAST’s Deputy Clinical Director

Deputy Clinical Director Paul Gates receives his High Sheriff Award from Simon Brice DL, High Sheriff of Essex

EEAST’s Deputy Clinical Director Paul Gates has received a High Sheriff Award for his voluntary work with BASICS Essex Accident Rescue Service.

The High Sheriff for Essex, Simon Brice DL, presented Paul with the award in recognition of the valuable service he provides to the county.

As chair of BASICS Essex Accident Rescue Service, known in short as BASICS Essex, Paul plays a key role in the running of the network of volunteer doctors and paramedics who respond to incidents at the request of the EEAST.

The service has operated in Essex since 1973 and relies solely upon donations.

Paul said: “I was deeply honoured to receive this award from the High Sheriff for Essex for my work with BASICS Essex and would like to thank everyone who nominated me.

“The work that BASICS Essex does in support of EEAST helps save lives across Essex and it’s a privilege to work for both organisations which play such a vital role in the community.”
