How the Trust is reacting to surge in 111 calls

Following a recent increase in the volume of 111 calls in Cambridgeshire, we want to assure staff of the actions being taken in response.

The clinical commissioning groups have been notified and we are having discussions with the 111 providers directly as to how the situation can be improved.

Locality Director for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Matt Broad said: “The volumes we have seen recently are not acceptable and we will not let this go unchallenged. If you are concerned about a job, please put ‘111 review’ into the MDT and any comments you have. When we meet with the providers this gives us specific examples to talk about.”

On a daily basis the Trust looks into the calls that crews flag up and listens to the original 111 call. We then discuss these incidents with the different providers to give direct feedback to the 111 call handler. The Trust is monitoring the situation very closely and encourage staff to report as much as possible.
