Mechanical thrombectomy in England: communities of practice, improving access and quality

Webinar

Dr David Hargroves, GIRFT clinical lead for stroke and NHS England’s national speciality adviser for stroke medicine and Dr Deb Lowe, GIRFT senior clinical advisor for stroke and NHS England’s national clinical director for stroke, invite you to join a webinar on Thursday 5th October at 12.30pm.

You will be able hear about the delivery of mechanical thrombectomy interventions in England, and how the upcoming guidance can support trusts to learn from best practice and drive wider access.

GIRFT and the national stroke programme are working on guidance which will bring together data and evidence, combined with examples of best practice, to help local and regional services build referral pathways and processes that can sustain rapid growth in MT and are effective in ensuring all suitable patients get rapid access to MT.

We are delighted to be joined by the following speakers:

  • Professor Martin James, clinical director of SSNAP, consultant stroke physician at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and clinical professor at University of Exeter Medical School, who will be presenting on what the national audit (SSNAP) is telling us.
  • Dr David Hargroves, GIRFT clinical lead for stroke and NHS England’s national speciality adviser for stroke medicine, who will tell us about good practice in imaging (the NOSIP) and Door-in, Door-out (DIDO) times.
  • Professor Phil White, professor of neuroradiology at Newcastle University, to discuss the procedures, efficacy and safety of MT.
  • Professor Gary Ford, consultant stroke physician at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, professor of stroke medicine at Oxford University, and chief executive officer of Oxford Academic Health Science Network, will present on the clinical governance arrangements and the repatriation of patients.
  • Dr Deborah Lowe, GIRFT senior clinical advisor for stroke and NHS England’s national clinical director for stroke, on the workforce considerations for the delivery of a sustainable MT service.

This webinar will take place on MS Teams Live Events. Please register and you will receive the joining link via separate email prior to the event.
