New Trust wide Telephone System

Avaya J169 handset

Work is well under way to replace the Trust’s current Telephone system at the Trust’s three AOC sites and all Ambulance stations. This will give the Trust a next generation platform to develop our telephony infrastructure with better functionality and more collaborative working between all sites.

The introduction of the new solution, using the latest telephony technology, will provide the following benefits: -

  • A resilient telephony platform across all Trust sites.
  • New wallboards within AOC sites using a third-party customisable solution.
  • Station upgrades providing internal extensions for inter-site communications as well as the provision of new handsets for both AOC and admin desks at all sites.
  • New softphone capability for use with laptops and PC’s e. The ability to make calls to any phone number from an enabled computer.
  • An upgraded resilient solution to the existing Voice Recording system.
  • Voice recording for remote working for ECAT staff.
  • Enhanced billing which will enable the Trust to make potential cost savings.

The project team will provide full user support for the new handsets and will confirm the migration dates in due course. The plan is to roll out the new system to AOC services in September and October. The station roll out will begin in September and run through to March 2022.
